Greetings to all of you,
Is spring ever going to really get here?? I hope you all have
had the opportunity to get out in yard a few times when the
sun has been out.
This has been another quick month starting out with our
Loyalty Day program on May 3rd. Thanks to all of
you that attended.
We had the installation of officers on May 4th and
I’d like to welcome Kay as our new President of the Auxiliary.
I’d like to also thank Bob Harris as the installing officer
and of coarse we can’t forget to thank Micki for her great
service. I’m looking forward to another great year and know
Kay is a great asset to help lead us in that direction. Thank
you all for your Trust.
We have started the horseshoe league on Monday and Thursday
evenings and it looks like it will be a very popular night.
If you have an interest in participating please contact Keith
for an application. These horseshoe pits are open to
everybody so stop in and pitch a few whenever you’d like.
We sponsored a fund raising event for the Fourth of July
parade in the middle of the month that included a car show and
50’s sock hop in the evening. We were please to have 22
classic cars show up and provided prizes throughout the day.
I’d like the thank Jan and Andrea for helping to organize
this event and helping around the club. Krista for the
decorations and basket prizes, Jim and Lisa Woods for helping
with the food and beer, Wendy for help at the door and of
coarse Makala for being our car hop for the day. There were
some great outfits, good music, and a lot of fun. Carol made
some great burgers for us all day too. Thanks for all your
support. Remember we are selling flags at the bar to help
sponsor the parade and fireworks also so be sure and get your
name on at least one. We are getting closer to the goal of
helping to raise $35,000, for the parade and fireworks with a
few more fund raising events coming up including and a golf
tournament. If you are interested in golfing on May 31please
contact Carol in our pull tab both. The VFW is sponsoring two
holes of this tournament.
We will be starting a new calendar raffle this month to start
with the first prize in July and going until December. Be
sure and get your tickets early and often. We will need to
sell off the tickets during the month of June so please
contact Keith to help sell these; we have a limited time and
lots of tickets so all your help would be appreciated..
Poppy sales started and Keith Crist got us off to a good
start. Thank you to everybody that was available to get out
and sell poppies both individually and to our local business
partners. Cards are still available to purchase at the bar if
you haven’t already.
Memorial Day came a little early this year but at least we
didn’t get snowed on. We should thank our comrades at the
American Legion for the great program at the Beach and our
Color Guard for a nice job at all the cemeteries locally.
Thank you all for your participation in honoring our fallen
comrades.
Coming up in June is the State convention June 25th through
the 28th. If you are planning to attend you need to have your
housing booked now through the Department. Forms are
available at the club if you need them.
Summer is really going to get here eventually so be safe
boating and driving to the cabin. There’s plenty to do
outside now. If you think you need something to do, stop at
the club, we can always find a job for you. Thanks Duane for
picking up the lawn mowing at the club.
Stop in to the club and have a beverage out on the patio or
throw a few shoes in the back. You’re always welcome and we
love to see you theree
Respectfully,
Commander Lee Goodyear.
